Matthew was born and raised on the Burin Peninsula and moved to St. John’s to attend Memorial University in 2007 where he is currently completing an honours degree in Political Science and Sociology.

Presently, Matthew is the President of the Newfoundland and Labrador Young Liberals and has previously served in a number of different capacities within the Liberal party including President of the MUN Liberals and youth representative on district and riding associations.

Matthew is committed to ensuring youth voices are heard within the party, and is committed to furthering the Liberal party in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Lori Ann Campbell

WOMEN'S COMMISSION PRESIDENT

Born and raised in Stephenville / Read More

Born and raised in Stephenville Newfoundland, Lori-Ann Campbell obtained a Specialized Honours in International Relations in 2000 and was awarded the York University graduate fellowship for research in International political economy.

A Mother of two, Lori-Ann returned to the province in 2003, and currently is employed as a researcher/policy analyst for the Official Opposition of the House of Assembly. Always marching to the beat of a different drummer, Lori-Ann was very pleased to be elected to the position of President of the Women’s commission of the Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador by her peers and work to represent the experiences and enhance the participation of women at all levels of the Liberal party.

Matthew Pike is originally from Happy Valley – Goose Bay, but currently resides in St. John’s as a student at Memorial University. There, Matthew has obtained a certificate in Public Administration and Criminology, and is working on a degree in political science and aboriginal studies. Further more, Matthew is working with the Official Opposition as a Researcher.

Once finished university, Matthew plans to return to Labrador to pursue his future endeavors.

Nic has been an active Liberal since the winter of 2006 when he started campaigning door-to-door for Siobhan Coady. He remained active within the Party, giving much of his time to the provincial election a year later and to the federal election in 2008, which saw Siobhan successfully elected as the Member of Parliament for St. John’s South – Mount Pearl. Nic currently works part-time for the Liberal Party of Newfoundland & Labrador from their St. John’s office.

Nic has also been an active member of Newfoundland & Labrador’s Youth Commission, working hard to recruit new members and promote their values within the party. Maintaining the energetic, engaging, and spirited nature of the Liberal Party and its youth is his highest priority.

Nic is a student at Memorial University, perusing a degree in Political Science, and is the President of Memorial’s Young Liberals Club.

Kelvin L. Parsons graduated from St. James Regional High School in Port aux Basques in 1972. From there, he attended Memorial University of Newfoundland where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) degree in 1976.

In 1979 Mr. Parsons was awarded an L.LB. from the University of New Brunswick, and was called to the Newfoundland Bar in 1980. He practiced law at Port aux Basques from 1980-1999.
In February, 1999 he was elected M.H.A. for the Provincial District of Burgeo & LaPoile and in January, 2000 was appointed Minister of Justice and Attorney General.  He was appointed Queen’s Counsel in April, 2000 and in April 2002 he was appointed Acting Minister of Industry, Trade and Rural Development and Deputy House Leader.  Mr. Parsons was re-elected in October, 2003 and again in October 2007 and appointed Opposition House Leader.

Mr. Parsons has three beautiful children: Kristopher, Andrew and Adam.

2010 Leadership Convention and
Annual General Meeting

The Executive Board of the Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador has announced that the 2010 Leadership Convention  and Annual General Meeting will take place at the St. John’s Convention Centre  on November 19-21, 2010.

Jody Fancey and Mark Watton will serve as the Convention Co-chairs.
